I don't know about you, but my search for uplifting, encouraging music is never-ending. Especially At the end of spring semester, As Both the Pollen count and academic pressure seem to be steadily increasing by the minute, I am Desperate for anything that can reinvigorate the threadbare mantra that 'Everything is Gonna be alright.'

When I first Heard this song, it Felt like a long overdue breath of fresh air. Though I had met amelia through a shared internship months before, I felt as though I really got to know a piece of her heart through this song. Her touching lyricism coupled with her beautifully soulful voice have the power to renew one's belief in God's Faithfulness.

I was able to ask amelia a few questions about This truly beautiful song, and I wanted to share her answers to give others the same opportunity to learn more about it from the singer-songwriter herself.

What inspired you to write this song?

“What inspired this song was a deep conversation I ended up having with my friends, Gail and Jack, where I retold them my testimony. It led me to remember how far I’ve come, and I went home that night and wrote this song in one sitting.”

Who or what influenced your style of storytelling with the lyrics?

“My songwriting is heavily influenced by Lizzy McAlpine. I also grew up always listening to Taylor Swift, which obviously has had an effect on the way that I write. Lizzy specifically showed me the beauty in vulnerability when it comes to songwriting as an outlet to tell people exactly how I feel.”

How did you know this was the song you wanted to be your first release?

“I’d written a good amount of songs before writing ‘Never Been Away From Your Love.’ But I knew for my first release, I wanted it to encapsulate what matters most me, which is singing and God. I like the other songs I had written, but they are about silly things like boys and heartbreak, and I didn’t want that to be the first thing people heard from me. I’m really happy with the way the song turned out and think it represents what’s the most important about me.”

In keeping with the theme of this Blog, I want to share a few of my personal favorite things - or Joyful shouts, if you will - about "Never been away from Your Love."

As a christian myself, I love songs about God that don't necessarily fall under the category of "worship music." I find songs such as this one serve as important reminders that God is everywhere, not just in the church. On top of that, This song feels like somewhat of a love song written to God, and I don't think beautiful is a big enough word to describe that.

I'm also fascinated with the way the lyrics tell this story. I love the Snippets of the integral moments that come together to make up Amelia's testimony within this song. "Never Been Away From Your Love" is masterfully done, and I'm so excited to hear whatever might be next for Amelia!

I would love if you would also share your joyful shouts for Amelia and "Never Been Away From Your Love" In the comments!
